Colusa Western Days THIS WEEKEND


The Longhorn Cattle Drive Parade will be amiss at the 2015 Colusa Western Days, a standing tradition to help kick-off the weekend long event.

Due to rescheduling for the Easter holiday, the Colusa Western Days Committee advised that the annual Longhorn Cattle Drive will be amiss.

“The Cattle were not available this year on the date of the event,” said Colusa Western Days spokesperson, Sherry Maltby.

Although, missing the Cattle Drive, the 2015 Colusa Western Days is sure not to disappoint.

Starting at 9:00 AM, on Saturday, April 11, 2015 the Colusa Western Days 5K Run, and 3K Walk event will help benefit ALS patients and raise awareness.

Organized by, Andrea Thomas for her senior project and in the memory of her late grandfather, Jerry Vann, who lost his life to the disease.

“Ms. Thomas has volunteered at Colusa Western Days for a number of years, and she excited to add to the fun of the weekend,” said Colusa Western Days spokesperson, Caroline Vann.

At 10:00 AM, on Saturday April 11, 2015, the Colusa County, Family Fair will feature great fun and information for children and their families.

The Colusa County Family Fair is pleased to present America’s Funnies Cowgirl for the 2015 event. Karen Quest will perform her internationally renowned act, Cowgirl Tricks, a vaudeville-style comedy Western show complete with trick roping, whip cracking, music, magic and lots of kooky cowgirl shenanigans. The event is perfect for the entire family.

The show begins at 11:30 am and again at 1:15 pm. So gather up your young’uns and bring them down to the Family Fair for the hilarious comedy show.

In addition to the Cowgirl Acts, a petting zoo, and information booths will be available.

Hungry for lunch? Come taste some of the greatest, local, Dutch Oven Cooks during the Colusa Western Days at 12:00 pm. Watch as contestants compete for the best main course, side dish and desert.

You might even get a glimpse of Governor Gerry Brown, who will be a guest judge at the event.

Last but not least, stop by Saturday, April 12th at 11:45 AM for the improved BBQ Rib Cook-off competition.
