On Tuesday, April 7, 2014.  The Colusa County Sheriff’s Department was on the lookout for suspicious subjects after causing a disturbance at a Princeton resident’s home.

“There was a report of subjects going to a home in Princeton, asking the name of a alleged prior homeowner – causing alarm by the current resident  – and she called the Sheriffs Office,” said Lt. Russ Jones.

A short while later the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a burglary in progress at a residence on Fonseca Road in Princeton.

“The subjects arrived at the home on Fonseca Road and gained entry,” said Lt. Jones, “The homeowner who was working in a field nearby, noticed a suspicious vehicle at his home and went to investigate. When he entered his home, he found many of his possessions on the floor with the burglary in progress.”

The homeowner then armed himself, calling the sheriff’s office as he had detained the subjects.
Once on the scene, the Colusa County Sheriffs Department arrested Lisa Jansen, 58 of Nevada City, and Ryan Wertman, 24 of Woodland.

Both Wertman and Jansen were booked on burglary charges and receiving stolen property. Wertman was also charged with the possession of a controlled substance and for bringing a controlled substance into jail.
