City of Williams Approves Alternate Planning Commissioner

The Williams City Council waived the first reading of Ordinance 210-15 the amendment to Chapter 2.24 Planning Commission of the City of Williams, unanimously adding a sixth, alternate member to the Williams Planning Commission.

‚ÄúThere has been a number of occasions where there has been poor attendance of commission members,‚ÄĚ said Williams City Mayor, John Troughton Jr., ‚ÄúI think this will solve the problem.‚ÄĚ

Currently there are five Williams City Planning Commission members appointed by the mayor with approval of the council.

Williams community member, Dixie LaGrande asked the council if there has been any action that was prevented from being taken in the past due to the lack of a quorum.

Monica Stegall, Williams Assistant City Planner answered that there has been some actions prevented on occasion due to the lack of attendance of commission members.

Once formally approved the ordinance will add a sixth, alternate member who will act as a planning commissioner in the event a quorum is not met.
