Shoeboxes and wheelbarrows are included in two new competitions at the 76th annual Colusa County Fair June 4-7.
School groups and individual youth 0-18 are invited to compete for prices of $25-$150 in the Shoebox Float Contest.
The entries must be made from cardboard shoeboxes and can be no larger than 9 inches by 13 inches. Decorations should not exceed 15 inches tall.
Exhibitors are encouraged but not required to walk with their entries in the Kiddie Parade. The kiddie parade begins at 4:30 pm prior to the main parade on Friday, June 5. Parade staging area is located on Market Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Entry fee is $1.
The main parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the line-up between 4:45 pm and 5:15 pm at the corner of 5th and Market.
Deadline to enter is 11:59 a.m. on May 29, 2015 online or paper entries by 4 pm on May 22 at the fair office.
The Wheelbarrow Garden Project will give gardeners a chance to shine by planting mini gardens in wheelbarrows or small wagons. Entries in this event will be eligible to win prizes of $10, $15 and $20. The entry fee is $2. Deadline to enter online is 11:59 a.m. on June 1 or by paper entry at the fair office by 4 pm on May 26.
