In the tradition of “Chopped,” the television cooking competition Colusa County Businesses and restaurants are invited to compete for $500 at the Colusa County Fair.
Chef Keith Erickson’s $500 Cooking Challenge is taking place during the 76th annual Colusa County Fair from 7 pm – 9 pm on Saturday, June 6 at the Community Building on the fairgrounds. The Fair themed “There’s Magic in the Fair” runs June 4-7.
This is a one-night-only event for the Fair, and there are only four entry spots available. Competitors are limited to Colusa County businesses and restaurants and will be selected on a first entered basis. There is no entry fee.
The Challenge is being sponsored by Colusa Casino Resort and the Colusa County Fair.
Erickson, Chief Executive Chef at Colusa Casino Resort, will facilitate the challenge. He explained that just as in the television program, the competing chefs will be provided with a “mystery” basket containing ingredients that must be used in one or more of their dishes. Chefs will prepare a two-course meal.
“Space is limited; only four will be selected to compete,” said Erickson. “Don’t wait to enter.”
A list of rules and regulations and contestant applications are available online at www.colusacountyfair.com or at the fair office. For more information contact Bernice Dommer at (530) 458-2641.
