Colusa County Sheriff to host Junior Police Academy this Summer

The Williams Police Department, Colusa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colusa Police Department would like to announce that our Youth Service Division’s will be hosting its second Junior Police Academy. The Junior Police Academy is open to all Colusa County Students ages 12 to 18 (7th grade through graduating seniors).

The Academy is for any youth who has an interest in learning about law enforcement in the community, an interest in learning how to be an asset to your neighborhood, a willingness to learn and have a positive attitude, but most importantly have fun!

The Academy is designed to introduce students to the law enforcement community in a variety of fun, interesting, and civic minded ways. “Youth Cadets” will learn from and participate in various demonstrations of law enforcement units, designed to enhance student understanding of the law enforcement role in Public Safety.

For further information on the Junior Police Academy, including the application forms please call Police Officer Ivan Maldonado at (530) 473-2661, email or Deputy Leanne Knutson at (530) 458-0200, email

The Williams Pioneer Review has a small staff of one, covering all of Colusa County; but we’re proud to have the assistance of a large army of community contributors to extend our range and reach.
