The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Community Advocates for Parents and Children (CAPC) will host a Countywide Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Colusa County Fairgrounds.
“Bicycle safety is one of the most important concerns for parents and guardians,” said Williams Area CHP Officer, Kristen Murphy, “the CHP and CAPC joined together to provide a countywide resource, allowing us to engage children and help them learn the proper rules of the road and to ensure they understand bicycle safety.”
The bicycle rodeo will include a hand signal station, obstacle course, bicycle rules of the road, and various safety tips.
“The children will learn the appropriate hand signals, and how to cross streets safely,” said Murphy.
The event is open to children ages five and up. Children under the age of 18 must wear a helmet during the event, and bicycles must operate in a safe manner.
“When the children finish the course, we will give each bike a maintenance safety check,” said Murphy.
Children will also get a chance to win a prize at the completion of the event.
So grab your bike and a helmet and come out to the Colusa County Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. <
