Grant Meetings to be held for the Sacramento Valley Museum

The Sacramento Valley Museum will be seeking community input and assistance with their grant application to the California Natural Resources Agency, Museum Grant Program to fund critically needed improvements to the museum building and grounds.

On Thursday, July 23, 2015 and Tuesday, August 4, 2015, the Sacramento Valley Museum will solicit project input and in-kind comments from community members to help facilitate the grant writing process. The workshops will be held at the Sacramento Valley Museum, 1491 E Street, Williams and will be held from 6 PM to 7 PM.

In the proposed grant, the Sacramento Valley Museum is seeking funding for plumbing and electrical infrastructure improvements; additionally, the museum will seek public comment on construction and insulation of permanent exhibits, exterior landscape, energy efficiency, and the restoration, renovation or expansion of the current facility.

Anyone interested in preserving the History of the Sacramento Valley is encouraged to attend either event on Thursday, July 23, 2015, and Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from 6 PM to 7 PM at the Sacramento Valley Museum.

The California Cultural and Historical Museum Grant Program is funded from Proposition 40 bond funds for two cycles of $2 million each. Proceeds from the new Snoopy Special Interest License Plate (www.snoopyplate.com) are planned to fund the program in future years. In 2013, Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 482, which authorized creation of a specified competitive grant program, to support small capital projects in museums including the acquisition of real property, or construction projects at museum facilities or venues.
