Outdoor Family Movie Night at Fairgrounds

Back in the day there was a drive-in theatre in Williams.  There was a lot great old classics watched on that big screen and the Colusa County Fairgrounds will recreate some of those memories this fall said Fair CEO Jonathan Howard.

“This is going to be a great opportunity for the community to get together and for families to enjoy time with one another and build some memories too,” he said.

Family Movie night will be held every Friday and Saturday nights from Sept. 11 through Oct. 16.

The classic “creature feature” films will be shown outside at the Community Center located on the fairgrounds. Movies begin at dusk. In the event of inclement weather the movies will be screened inside the Stagehands Theatre.

“We are showing classic creature features,” said Howard. “They are just good entertainment; a little scary but not too scary. They are classics that everyone can enjoy.”

Some of the films scheduled for the weekend screenings are:

  • September 11th – Dracula
  • September 12th – The Mummy
  • September 18th – It Came From Outer Space
  • September 19th – Forbidden Planet
  • September 25th – Frankenstein
  • September 26th – The Fly
  • October 2nd – War of The Worlds
  • October 3rd – The Day The Earth Stood Still
  • October 9th – Creature From The Black Lagoon
  • October 10th – Godzilla
  • October 16th – House on Haunted Hill
  • October 17th – Invasion of the Body Snatchers

These are free movies. Moviegoers should bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the grass outside the building.

“Recology has been kind enough to sponsor this project and has made it possible for us to offer this free family entertainment,” said Howard.

Concessions will be available for purchase. Any Colusa County non-profit group wishing to sell concessions should contact Howard at (530) 458-2641 Ext. 103.
