Vehicle Collision on Highway 20 West of Williams Causes Multiple Hour Delay 

The California Highway Patrol reported that on Monday, October 5, 2015, at approximately 11:30 AM, a four-vehicle collision with multiple injuries caused a two-hour delay along Highway 20, just west of Williams.

It was reported that the driver of a 2006 Dodge 3500, Hayle Gibson, 24 of Placerville, California was driving westbound on Highway 20, just west of Walnut Drive when for unknown reasons, allowed her vehicle to drift into oncoming traffic.

Gibson’s vehicle then struck a 2014 Kenworth Tractor Trailer, driven by Alejandro Barajas, 34 of Bakersfield, CA and continued into the path of a 2013 Dodge 35000, driven by Jacob Archer, 27, of Independence Oregon where they collided head-on.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Archers vehicle to leave the roadway and collide with a large rock and coming to rest in a ditch.

Gibson’s vehicle came to rest in the middle of the roadway, blocking both lanes.

Gibson suffered major injuries was extracted from her vehicle from the Williams Fire Department and was transported by air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center.

Barajas and Archer suffered only minor to moderate injuries due to the collision.

All parties involved were wearing their seatbelts.

A 60-year-old Carmichael driver, Kurt Geishardt, sustained damage to the front of his 2006 Ford F250, due to flying debris from the collision.

Highway 20 was closed for approximately two hours for debris cleanup.

This collision is under the investigation with the Williams Area California Highway Patrol, and can be reached by calling (530) 473-2821.
