“I would like to thank everyone who donated to help those impacted by the Valley Fire,” said Colusa business owner, Rob Moriconi.

Shortly after learning of a friend who lost their home in the Valley Fire, Moriconi planted the idea to collect and take items to Valley Fire victims in Lake County.

“The morning following the phone call, I set up my trailer and made a few calls and posted the idea to Facebook,” said Moriconi, “by the end of the day the trailer was full along with a pickup bed load.”

For ten days, and twenty trips, Moriconi and several other helpers took trailers and pickup loads filled with items to the Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks, the Youth Center in the City of Clearlake, and the Lions Club in Kelseyville.

“Anita Wells and Summer Shadley were tremendous help in taking items to those in need,” said Moriconi, “It was overwhelming from the support from the community.”

Various local businesses, schools and fire departments also collected items in which the group helped delivered to those in need.

“We had Arbuckle Elementary Students donate items, and the Williams Fire Department also served as a drop-off location collecting goods,” said Moriconi, “Grass Valley High School even dropped off items for us to take.”

Moriconi wanted to extend a huge thank you to Save More Food Market for donating several cases of bottled water.

“I just want to say thank you to all of those who donated and made a difference, I personally know how it feels to lose a home in a fire and every little bit helps,” Moriconi added.

Those wishing to donate items for Valley Fire Victims can drop them off at the Colusa County Farm Bureau will be accepted Monday – Thursdays, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the CCFB Conference Room located at 520 Market Street in Downtown Colusa. For more information call (530) 458-5130.

According to Moriconi, donations are also being received at the Lampson Field Airport, located at 600 Sky Park Drive in Lakeport, California.
