Motorcyclist killed in Highway 45 crash

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday in a collision with a compact car on Highway 45 outside Colusa.

The accident occurred shortly after 5:00 PM, when the driver of a Ford Focus made a left turn directly in the path of the oncoming motorcycle near Maxwell Road, said the California Highway Patrol.

According to investigators, Cole Rhea, 30, of Colusa CA, the driver of the Ford Focus, was driving northbound on State Highway 45 and attempted to make a left turn onto Maxwell Road.

“It appears Rhea failed to notice the oncoming motorcycle as he turned onto Maxwell Road causing the motorcycle to collide into the right side of his vehicle,” said CHP Officer, Kyrstin Murphy in a press release.

The driver of the motorcycle was later identified as 38-year-old, Greg Bill, of Colusa.

On-scene investigators also reported that Bill was traveling above the posted speed limit.

Subsequently, during the collision, Bill was ejected from his motorcycle and onto the roadway and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Reha’s vehicle came to rest blocking the southbound traffic lane of State Highway 45.

Reha’s Passenger, Krystal Garrow, 26, of Colusa and a two-month-old child were transported to Colusa Regional Medical Center by a private citizen for minor injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it is unknown at the time of press if alcohol was a contributing factor and the collision is under investigation by the Williams Area CHP Office.
