Kenneth IvanFlagor, Sr. of Colusa, CA died peacefully on January 2, 2015 at his home in Colusa, CA at the strong age of 87.He was born on June 9th, 1927, in Yale, OK. He started out a very independent living at a young age and worked his way with odd jobs to help out his family.He honorably enlisted into the United States Navy, 23rd NCBCM3 from 1944-1954, approximately. Upon returning to the United States he became a well-known local historical figure, even serving as Mayor and Councilman of both Williams and beautiful Colusa, CA. He retired from Hoblit Motors after 28 years achieving as a multi year member in Ford 500 Club for Excellence in Sales.Ken continued to serve Colusa through a vast array of volunteer positions when he wasn’t working hard cutting wood. He assisted the local fire department and sheriff with numerous duties as well as Williams school district. He was an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2441 and American Legion Post 219. His length of residence in the Yuba-Sutter area spanned 70 years.He is survived by his wife, Shirley Barnett (Flagor), and her daughter, Stacey Bizal who came to love him as her own father. He has two surviving sons, Kenneth Flagor Jr. of Colusa and Robert Flagor, of Cour d’Alene, ID. He had numerous grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, respectively: Jerry Flagor, of Rocklin, CA who loved him as a father figure. Kimberly Fitzpatrick and her children Jack, Julia, Ben of Fresno, CA. Mollie McDonough and her children, Mason, Morgan, Mia of Mission Viejo, CA, Neil Flagor of Watsonville, CA. Christina Flagor and daughter Alyssa of Cuna, ID. Tammy Dunlap and children Cassie Doane, Megan, Abby, Shelby, Makenna, Lilah of Maxwell, CA. Gabe Flagor of Roseville, CA and Nicky Flagor and children Cole, Joey, Julianna of Cour d’Alene, ID.
Ken Flagor Sr. was preceded by his father, Henry Arthur Flagor, mother, Harriett Beecher Stowe, son Ronald L. Flagor and ten siblings. His first wife of 54 years, Jeannette, passed away in 2002.
Viewing will be available at 0900 on January 7th at Colusa First Presbyterian, 326 Jay Street with following services conducted by Reverend Tom Tripp at 1100. A military service will ensue immediately after at Maxwell Cemetery, 5329 Maxwell Sites Rd, Maxwell, CA 95955. Reception will be held after burial at the VFW hall in Maxwell at 258 W. Oak Street, 95955.
