Raymond “Moncho” Martinez (1940-2015)

OBIT - Raymond MartinezRaymond “Moncho” Tamayo Martinez passed away on January 31, 2015 at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, CA.

He was a Colusa County resident for 60 years.

For 39 years, Raymond worked for the City of Colusa as a Public Works Supervisor. He was also an avid member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Jaycees. Raymond also coached for Colusa Little League for over 35 years.

Raymond enjoyed gardening, fishing, deer hunting and camping. He was also a reserve Sargent for the Colusa Police Dept.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mary Martinez of Colusa; his sons, Raymond Gabriel Martinez “Miwon” of Chico, Christopher Martinez of Colusa; and his daughter Diane Surita “George” of Yuba City. He is also survived by his sisters Annie Castillo of Modesto, and Elsa Zamero of San Jose. He had eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Sylvia Surita.

Visitation services will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM at McNary-Moore Chapel, 107 5th Street, Colusa.

Funeral Mass is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 4th and Oak Street, Colusa.

Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
