When Bill was 6 years old, he helped during the flood of ‘55’ by pulling people in boats to safety. He graduated from Colusa High school in 1967and he loved playing for the Colusa Redskins Football team.
He enjoyed cooking and gardening. He was known as “The Cookie Man” at Williams schools because he would make specialty cookies for the children every month for years. Bill ran Gilmore Security in Oroville and worked through the ranks, all the way to Captain. He then moved back to Colusa, where he got back into the medical field. He worked as an EMT II on an ambulance, then worked in the ER, OB, ICU, Surgery departments and the floor at Colusa Hospital. He oversaw the Commodity program for 11 years in Colusa and Williams.
He was proud of his heritage being Native American and German. He attended many Pow Wows and met with many people of various tribes.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cheryle of Williams; Daughter Samantha of Marysville; Brother-in-law Ken Mack (Rebecca) of Cedarville,W.M. Mack of Marysville; Brother Wayne Carlin (Margret) of Anderson; Cousins Betty Castle (Carlos) of Magalia, Paul Williams of Princeton, Roy Williams of Oroville, Leona Hess (Fred) of Paradise, Kim Trayer of Oroville, Ruth Stevens of Reno, Bill Boyd (Liz) of Reno; As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill loved life and will be missed by many dear friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Lauren and Edna Simpson of Colusa; 2 unborn children; Sister Rita Simpson; Brothers Keith Malohn and JR Carlin; Nephew Kenny Roberson and Stepsister Delores Johnson.
A Memorial Celebration will be announced at a later date.
