
Born at the Gray Goose Hunting Lodge, north of Williams on January 23, 1929, Jess attended school in Williams and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduation.
At the rank of Sergeant, Jess was a member of the 11th Airborne and 187th Regimental Combat Team as a paratrooper and saw combat duty in Korea.
Upon returning home, he started a career of 36 years with the Colusa County Road Department and a family business, the Salt Creek Pheasant Club, which continues today.
Jess was an avid outdoors-man with a passion for hunting and fishing. He taught Hunter’s Safety to hundreds of area youth.
He was a life member and former commander of the Williams Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as a member of Maxwell American Legion Post 0218 for 38 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Fay Turner of Williams, Ca. Son; Doug Turner (Patti) of Williams. Daughters; Sheryl Turner of Williams and Tami Coder (Mike) of Williams. His beloved grandchildren; Cameron Turner, Dustin Coder, Jessi Coder and Rylee Coder.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; Jess B. and Leone Turner and siblings Jack Turnley and Betty Murphy.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Williams Community Church, 315 9th Street, Williams. A military burial service will follow at the Williams Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Williams Volunteer Firefighters or the Williams Cemetery Fence Fund.
