David Joseph Betti, 65, of Ventura, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2015 while walking his faithful service dog and companion, Sarge.
Born in Bakersfield, California on December 18, 1949, to Ruth and Fred Betti of Woodland, California, David grew up in Williams, California with his siblings.
Following in his father’s footsteps, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1969-1971 in the Vietnam War.
In the years following his service, David as the President, Vice-President, Secretary, POW/MIA Chairman, Board Member and Life Member of the Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County. He worked tirelessly as an avid advocate in assisting service members’ and their families receive their earned Veterans Benefits. David also spoke at many school groups alongside other veterans as they shared their combat experiences.
David was also a member of the American Legion and served on the Personnel Commission for the Ventura Unified School District. He also volunteered with the Ojai Humane Society.
Music was David’s passion and loved playing his drums. His huge personality was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
David is survived by his loving wife Carrie Pulido-Betti; his children, Sutton, Nicole, Casie and Sierra; four grandchildren, Chastity, Chynna, Jessie, and Corinna. He is also survived by his sisters Faith Betti (James Cover) and Lynn Hopkins (Frank).
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Fred Betti of Woodland and twin sisters Linda Sue and Ruth Ann Betti.
Services were held for David in Ventura, California. Υ
