Jerry F. Myers, 68, of Yuba City California passed away on May 15, 2015 at Rideout Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 27, 1947, in Colusa, CA, to Molly and Gerry Myers, Jerry was raised in Colusa, where he attended the Catholic grade school and Colusa High School. He was an outstanding basketball player throughout high school for the Colusa Redskins.
After graduating high school, he went on to Chico State University where he graduated with a business degree. He moved to Santa Rosa and went to work for State Farm Insurance as an underwriter. After two years, he returned to Colusa and worked in the grocery business with his brother Ron, but eventually went back into the insurance business that he enjoyed so much. Jerry was an avid golfer and sports fan. He followed the Oakland A’s, the Oakland Raiders, the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Molly and Gerry Myers, brother Ron Myers, and brother–in law Eric Lyss.
Jerry is survived by his children, Kimberlee Zwald Butler, son-in-law Rick, daughter Lindee Hulbert, son-in law George and son Ryan Myers. He has two grandsons, Blake ‘Moose Man’ Zwald and Branden ‘Mad Dog’ Woodring, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two sisters, Raylene Lyss and Julie Peterson and brother-in-law Ken.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Colusa Red Hawks Athletic Foundation (CRAF).
A celebration of life will be held at the Ullrey Memorial Chapel (817 Almond Street, Yuba City, CA) on Thursday May 21st from 10:00 to 12:00 noon.
