Cecilie Jean Arends (1951-2015)

Mom_0002C. Jean (Westcamp) Arends, 63, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2015 at her home in Helotes, Texas, with her family by her side. Jean was born December 31, 1951, at Colusa Hospital in Colusa, Calif.

She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Schools and Colusa High School Class of 1970. After graduation, she attended Yuba College in Marysville, Calif., and American River College in Sacramento, Calif. where she studied child development.

She met and married Paul Arends of Sacramento, Calif., on July 29, 1972. While Paul was stationed in Sacramento, Jean worked at the Sacramento Bee for a few years.

She was a stay-at-home mom and raised sons Paul Michael Arends and Anthony Allen Arends while her husband was deployed to worldwide assignments over a span of about 20 years. She was extremely proud of her husband, eldest son’s and eldest grandson’s military service.

Jean had many interests including all things Betty-Boop, ABBA tunes, ABC soap operas, the beach and her bucket list dream of visiting New York City. She also loved NBA basketball as a devoted fan of the San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings.

Jean was truly an amazing wife, mother, daughter and sister and a proud grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy and blessing.

She is survived by husband Paul Arends, son Paul Michael Arends and wife Jennifer “Jai”, son Anthony Allen Arends and fianceé Christine, grandsons Jacob Arends and Michael Arends. She is survived by mother Bertha Fontes, stepfather John Fontes, sister Debbie Faulk, sister Andrea Correa and husband Doug, nephew Garret Faulk and wife Lisa, nieces Christy Correa and Jada Correa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Westcamp, grandparents, Herbert and Henrietta Bond, and brother-in-law, Michael Faulk.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks for the love, compassion and care Jean received from Encompass Home Hospice and STERS Cancer Therapy and Research Center at UTSA in San Antonio, Texas.

The memorial service will be held on July 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at McNary-Moore Funeral Services, 107 5TH Street in Colusa, California with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
