Submitted by Mackenzie Bressler

On February 2, 2016,  the Colusa Farm Show will begin its three-day run at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. The Feb. 2-4 event, known as the Granddaddy of Farm Shows is free to the public. The gates open daily on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Thursday show hours are 9 AM to 4 PM.

Farm Show Committee Director David Zwald commented that this year’s Show will be the biggest to date with more spaces for vendors. “We will have more presentations with a large amount of valuable information,” he said. Exhibits from 375 nationwide companies as well as family-owned operations will be showcased.  The show is dedicated to meeting the needs of all farmers and ranchers.

Additionally; the show will feature a wide variety of seminars each day and valuable ag-related information for its patrons. On Tuesday Gretchen Rooney-Adan from Western Growers Insurance will speak on New Crop Margin Product beginning at 9 AM.  At 11 AM Diane Charlton will speak on Farm Labor Supply, and at 1 PM Red Dot Corporation will present the AG & H Truck Air Conditioning System Class.

Wednesday’s presentations include Safety in Agricultural Practices at 10 AM with Amy Wolfe from AgSafe. Alison Van Enennaam PhD, will speak on GMO’s in the Dairy Industry at 11 AM, and Patti Turner, Colusa County Resource Conservation District executive director will present an innovative Ag marketing workshop at 1 PM. All seminars will be held at the Stage Hands Theatre on the Fairgrounds.

“For 51 years the Colusa Farm Show has provided one-stop shopping for all farm services. The purpose of this showcase is to acquaint agriculturalists with the latest in modern farming equipment and techniques,” said Zwald.  “We encourage the public to come on out to the oldest farm show on the west coast and find out what new and exciting things are available,” he said.
