Number of Scheduled Farm Show Seminars Growing


With the opening of the 51st Annual Colusa Farm Show February 2-4 nearing, the number of informational seminars available is also growing.

Initially presentations were scheduled only on Tuesday and Wednesday, but now there will be seminars and workshops during all three days of the Show.

Opening day speakers include Western Growers Insurance’s Gretchen Rooney-Adan speaking on new crop margin products, and Diane Charlton will focus on farm labor supply. Also on day one of the Farm Show Red Dot Corporation presents the AG & HD Truck Air Conditioning System Class.

Day two of the show will open with the 7:00am Ag Leadership Breakfast sponsored by Chico State/AGR.

Seminar speakers this day will include Nadine Bailey, Family Water Alliance Chief Operations Officer speaking on current water issues, Amy Wolfe with AgSafe addressing safety in agricultural practices, and Allison Van Eenennaam, PhD covering GMO’s in the dairy industry. CCRCD Executive Director Patti Turner will lead a workshop on innovative Ag marketing.

Closing day of the show will feature a Town Hall Meeting hosted by Family Water Alliance. The meeting will focus on the SMUD powerline.  Also on Thursday there will be presentations by the California Highway Patrol on the requirements for the Basic Inspection Terminals (BITprogram) for truck and trailer combinations. The final presentation will be with Jisang Yu presenting on the expansion of the federal crop insurance program  and  its production effects.

All seminars and workshops will be held at Pacific Gold Agriculture Building (Stagehands Theater). A time schedule will be posted on the building and also available online at www.colusafarmshow.com.

44th District Agricultural Association CEO Jonathan Howard commented that he, along the 44th DAA District Board and the Farm Show Committee, are very pleased with the speakers and workshops being offered this year.  “There is a wide variety of topics being covered. This is going to be a great opportunity for our farmers and ranchers to gather important information,” said Howard.
