Colusa City Police Department Monthly Report: January 2016

The Colusa City Police Department provided a monthly activity report for the month of January during the February 16, 2016, regular city council meeting for the City of Colusa.

The department summarized a decrease in the total number of service calls in January of 336 from 387 in December. The number of arrests also declined in January of 27 from the 33 in December.
According to the report, the major investigation case for the month involved the recovery of a stolen rental vehicle from the San Francisco area that was stopped by a Colusa Police Officer during the night shift.

Officers Salazar and Ruiz continue to progress in their field training program.

Colusa Police Officers spearheaded a search warrant at one of the local mobile home parks about the recent rash of residential burglaries.

Additionally, the department participated in the ‘Avoid the 9’ DUI Enforcement Program with Marysville Police Department.

Code Enforcement
The Colusa City Code Enforcement officer handed eight cases and closed six. Seven courtesy letters were sent out, and two citizen complaints were addressed.

Criminal Activity
The department handled 72 documented case investigations, with 60 of them concerning criminal activity. There were ten theft cases and five reports of vandalism.
The Colusa Police Department reported that one vehicle was recovered from theft, but no arrest was made. One traffic collision was noted for the month of January.

Traffic  
January had a significant increase in traffic stops, 323 from the 171 during the month of December. A total of 77 traffic citations were issued during the month; 26 of those were mechanical violations, and 21 citations were for drivers license issues. Nine parking citations were also issued for handicapped zone violations. The top moving traffic violation for the month was stop sign violations.

Arrests
The Colusa Police Department reported that six arrests were warrant arrests, one DUI arrests, and five arrests made for drug and alcohol outside of DUI-related violations.
