On February 22, 2016, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Williams Police Department was dispatched to Colusa Regional Medical Center where a victim was being treated for serious injuries.The violent encounter took place in the 100 block of 8th Street, Williams officials said.

According to Williams Police Chief, John Osbourn in a press release, the victim reported, that for unknown reasons, he was approached by 28-year-old Gamaliel Alcantar Bautista, of Williams, and engaged in a short argument.
Shortly after the argument, Bautista assaulted the victim with his hands and feet, resulting in serious injuries said police.
It was then reported to police that Bautista fled the area on foot, leaving the victim lying on the ground.
The victim was later transported to the regional medical center via private vehicle, where the he was treated for his serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Following the report, officers made contact with Bautista, and arrested him without incident.
Bautista was transported to the Colusa County Jail, where he was booked for committing felonious battery with serious bodily injury, misdemeanor battery, and for misdemeanor fighting in a public place.
