County Library Offers Student Resource Tool

To continue servicing its patrons, the Colusa County Free Library has announced its newest resource, MAS Ultra School Edition.

The MAS Ultra School Edition is a comprehensive database and research tool designed specifically for high school students.

Available around the clock to library patrons, MAS Ultra School Edition, contains full text for nearly 500 popular high school magazines covering a wide-range of subject areas including history, science, careers, and much more.

“The database also includes more than 360 full-text reference books, 159,000 biographies and primary source documents, and an Image Collection of over 1.3 million photos, maps, flags, color PDFs and expanded full-text backfiles to 1975 for the major magazines,” said Colusa County Librarian, Stacey Costello.

“The database is being continually updated with resources, making it a valuable tool for our library and most importantly our patrons,” Costello added.

Costello commented that students having access to the database will not only assist in completing their homework and research assignments, but it will also introduce them to the basic scholarly research methodology used at the college level.

MAS Ultra is an adapted version of the EBSCOhost database utilized at every college campus in the state of California- community, four-year, state, private and otherwise.

“This early training will help prepare our teens for the rigors of college and give them a solid foundation for continuing their education,” said Costello.

The database can be accessed at all of the branch libraries or directly from its website, www.countyofcolusa.org/library. Students can access the MAS Ultra School Edition site by their Colusa County Free Library card number and pin.

For information stop by the Colusa County Branch Library located at 738 Market Street, in Colusa or visit your local library.
