Community Easter Egg Hunt planned for Williams

Easter is just around the corner, and the Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Williams Community Church will host this year’s citywide Easter egg hunt.

On Saturday, March 26, 2016, activities will start at 9:00 AM and the Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.

This year the venue is back at Venice Street Park in Williams.

“We temporarily relocated the event last year due to the construction scheduled at the Venice Street Park,” said Marshall, “but were back at Venice Street Park.”

The traditional Community Easter Egg Hunt has been offered to the citizens of Williams for more than 60 years, and with the help of Colusa County Supervisor Mark Marshall, the event will continue.

“The Easter Egg Hunt was sponsored by the Williams Kiwanis Club for many years and when they were no longer able to host the event they asked if I would take it over,” said Marshall.

Marshall approached the Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Community Church to assist, and so they have.

Annually, the members of the Community Church prepare more than 2500 eggs to be hidden for the children from ages one-year-old to 8 years old; there will also be a section for babies that can’t yet walk.   Special eggs will be hidden that are prize eggs which are traded in for chocolate Easter Bunnies and beautiful Easter baskets which promise to bring a smile to any child’s face.

“This is a wonderful family event that celebrates the real reason for Easter,” said Marshall.

In addition to the Community Easter Hunt, Marshall would also like to remind everyone that there will be an Easter Sunrise service at the cross west of Williams on King Road at Leesville Road starting at 6:00 AM Easter morning where many of the local Christian Churches gather to celebrate their Christian faith and watch the sun rise over the Sutter Buttes.

Services are scheduled to be held at the Williams Community Church at 9th and C streets in Williams and will start at 10:30 Easter morning; everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
