Several community members filled the Morse Conference Room at the Colusa County Library Thursday night as the Friends of the Colusa County hosted an opportunity to meet with three young adult fiction authors.Alexis Bass and Jessica Taylor attended the event and shared their writing processes, inspirations, and their journeys to publication.  Stephanie Garber was scheduled to participate but due to unforeseen circumstances could not make it.

Bass gave the inspiration for her book ‘Love and Other Theories’.

“The ideas that are big in the finished book, start small,” said Bass, “I was in a coffee shop in Seattle, and these young girls in front of me were discussing a famous dating reality show. I thought – what if all girls approached dating as a game – that’s what started the inspiration for the book.”Jessica explained that the inspiration for her book, ‘Wandering Wild’ was derived from her experience living in a small town.

When asked about their writing process, Alexis commented, “I work to get the words out as quickly as possible. I also try to dedicate time every day to write – even if they are not useable words.”
