A Williams Business celebrated its 23rd year in business and recent solar installation with a ribbon cutting from the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce.

Located at the corner of Highway 20 and Virginia Way, Orv’s has been a part of the Williams Community since 1993.

“Orv’s is short Orville Burgess, my grandfather who purchased the property with a dream to build a gas station, gift shop and deli,” said Brittany Mench.

In February 1993, the dream became a reality as the business opened its doors. Today, the company is owned by Orville’s daughter Brenda and son-in-law Dean.

“My daughter Brittany, and son Derek are also very involved in the business,” said Brenda Mench.
According to Brenda, customers comment that the business has the best burgers and chicken around.
“Some people say our chicken is better than KFC,” Brenda said.

Orv’s features a self-service gas station, a deli with broasted chicken, locally grown specialty foods and an extensive gift shop.

“If you haven’t been in for a while, you should check it out!”, Brenda said.
In addition to celebrating its success, Orv’s announced its installation of solar panels. Making it the only convenience store in the area to do so.

“As the third generation owner, we want to be independent and lead by example to help keep our legacy with Orv’s for future generations,” said Brittany Munch, “with solar we can be efficient and produce clean energy.”

Williams City Mayor, John Troughton Jr. commented that Solar is the future and was proud to see Orv’s following in the same direction.

“The City of Williams installed solar at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant four years ago, and it equals a $6,000 a year savings towards the operation of the plant,” said Troughton.

Orv’s contracted with North State Solar Energy (NSSE) as it has completed dozens of residential, agricultural, and commercial projects. Additionally, NSSE is an American Pride Partner that uses all 100% American Made products for its installations.

For more information about North State Solar Energy call (530) 342-7304 or visit their office located in Colusa at 504 Market Street.

Other local dignitaries included members of the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, Colusa County Supervisor Mark Marshall, and Stephen Heter – District Representative for Assemblymember James Gallagher.

Orv’s is located at 180 Virginia Way in Williams, and is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. Business hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
