Pearson Joins Williams Pioneer Review

Brian Pearson HeadshotLloyd Green Jr., the owner, and publisher of the Williams Pioneer Review announced today that Brian Pearson has joined the publication as managing editor and reporter.

“I am excited for this opportunity here at the Williams Pioneer Review, Brian’s dedication and determination to develop the local news of our country is impeccable and lucky to have him part of the newsroom,” said Green.

Green commented that the Williams Pioneer Review is focused on the coverage of local news of Colusa County, and with the addition of Pearson, the newspaper will be able to provide a wealth of information to its readers to help them better navigate their lives.

“I value the opinion of our readers, and we would be excited to have you visit us, or give us a call with your thoughts and comments,” said Green. The Williams Pioneer Review is Colusa County’s Newspaper, and we want our communities to take pride and ownership in a publication they have to relish.

The Williams Pioneer Review is the county’s only locally owned, and locally operated newspaper. The newspaper building is located at 611 Bridge Street, in Colusa.

Pearson agreed with Green saying that he chose the Pioneer Review for a number of reasons.

“First and foremost, I believe that the Pioneer Review is the future of news in Colusa County. It is easy to see that Lloyd is already well on his way to making the paper a shining example of what a locally owned, independently published newspaper can be – and I hope to contribute to that,” said Pearson.

“I have witnessed Lloyd’s involvement in and dedication to the community as not only a publisher and a reporter, but also as a citizen and volunteer. I have always admired his tireless work ethic the fact that he genuinely cares about our county. I bring the same hard-working mentality and love for this community. The culture in place at the Pioneer Review was a significant factor in my choice, and I will do everything I can to add to it.”

Although Pearson said he will contribute to the Pioneer Review however he is needed, he did say that there have been some discussions about my covering local government meetings — including Board of Supervisors, City Councils, School Boards, etc.

“I anticipate that I will also be picking up a few feature stories every week as well. The thing I am most excited about, which I plan to begin working on immediately, is starting a “Sports and Outdoors page,” said Pearson.

“Every community in this county is hugely supportive of their prep sports – and I hope we can cover those exceptionally – but there are many other sporting activities that we don’t hear enough about. From the fantastic hunting and fishing that we are blessed with in this area to the golf scores coming from Arbuckle and Colusa to recreational league sports – I think those all have a place in the newspaper as well,” said Pearson. “The Pioneer Review is already where most of this county goes for its local news, and I would like to see it become the source for all sports and outdoors news as well.”

Pearson, who holds a B.A. degree in English from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, said he chose the news industry as his career path because he knew that he wanted to write for a living.

“I see the Williams Pioneer Review not only becoming the newspaper of Colusa County in the future but also becoming one of the best independently owned and published newspapers in the State,” said Pearson.
