Florence Irene Uhland (1920-2016)

OBIT - Florence UhlandFlorence Irene Uhland (nee – Howe) passed away peacefully on June 10, 2016 surrounded by her family, in Sacramento, CA. Born in College City, CA, June 22, 1920, Florence was preceded in death by Slim Goforth in 1942, and Claude Uhland in 1970.

Florence spent most of her life in Arbuckle, CA, where she was an active member of the community.  She was a loyal member of the Arbuckle Methodist Church, and served in various capacities, to include teaching Sunday School, serving as a greeter, manning the food bank program, participating in weekly bible study and helping with the annual ice cream socials. She was an active member of the Rebecca Lodge in Arbuckle and Woodland for over 75 years. A creative soul, Florence enjoyed sewing, ceramics, “clowning”, cake decorating in her younger years, and crocheting afghans for her beloved family and friends in her later years. Her joys included rides over the country backroads in Colusa County with her son Fred, spoiling her grandchildren/great grand-children, playing her harmonica, nurturing her pet cats and many animals.

Florence is survived by her sons Bill (E. Theresa) and Fred (Monica), grandchildren Darnell (Nicole) and Ashley, and great-grandchildren Quinten and Jadde Lynn as well as nieces, nephews and sister-in-law Mary Lou Howe. As an elder in the Arbuckle community, her legacy will be missed.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 16th from 10 – 10:30 am, followed by a funeral services at 11 am, at the Arbuckle United Methodist Church, 9th and Pendleton, Arbuckle, CA. Burial will follow in the Arbuckle Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Florence’s name to the Arbuckle Methodist Church.
