Williams pool to be dedicated in honor of Wes Goforth, former Public Works Director

On Saturday, the Williams Swimming Pool will be re-christened in honor of Wesley Allen Goforth, the long-time city employee and Williams Volunteer Firefighter who passed away in January 2015. The event will begin at 9:00 AM.

Goforth worked for the city for 25 years, where he ultimately became the Director of Public Works before retiring.

“(Wes) was around Williams for a long time, taking care of a lot of different things for the city during that period of time. He was here during some of the reconstruction and rehab of the city’s water system, and those types of things,” Mayor John Troughton said. “It’s a matter of paying tribute to someone who helped this city for a long time.”

The August 13 dedication date coincides with Goforth’s birthday.

“It’s the perfect day to dedicate the pool in his memory,” City Administrator Frank Kennedy said, adding that Goforth’s family will be present at the dedication.
