Colusa City Manager Randy Dunn recently announced at the Colusa City Council meeting that the group that has organized the event the past couple of years is no longer going to do so.
“I spoke with the prior host and they said that they were no able to do it anymore,” said Dunn.
In a phone conversation to the Pioneer Review Tuesday, Dunn commented that the council was concerned with the event continuing and is seeking a new group to host.
“We are looking for an individual or organization that would be willing to take the event on this year,” said Dunn. “However it might be too late to plan this year’s event.”
Dunn added that the event host would still have to submit an application to CalTrans for the road closure.
“I am not sure if there is enough time to do so,” he said.
However, Dunn is enthusiastic that there is someone out there who would like to take the event on.
“The City has co-sponsored the event by providing manpower to close off the streets, extra patrol, as well as the insurance needed for the event.” said Dunn.
Dunn said, those individuals who may be interested in taking on the event are urged to contact him at the Colusa City Hall at (530) 458-4740 or contact any Colusa City Council member.
