In partnership with the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, the Williams Pioneer Review will co-host the 2016 Colusa County Business Scarecrow Contest this fall.

“We invite all Colusa County Businesses to participate in this year’s contest,” said Pioneer Review Publisher, Lloyd Green Jr.

The Scarecrow Contests begins immediately with a registration deadline of Wednesday, Oct. 5.

“There is no fee to register your participation, however we need to have the registration form returned to our office to let us know who’s participating,” said Green.

The scarecrows can be decorated in any fall theme and must be assembled no later than Monday, Oct. 10.

“The week of Oct. 10 through Oct. 14, the scarecrows should be on display for the public to come take a look at,” said Green. “On Thursday, Oct. 13, a small group of judges will appear at each business to judge their scarecrow.” Entries will be judged on creativity and overall presentation.

In addition to the chamber judging, if the business would like to participate in People’s Choice, the Scarecrow must be relocated to the Colusa County Fairgrounds by 9:00 AM, Saturday, Oct. 15, for the start of Pumpkin Village.

“The People’s Choice will be selected at Pumpkin Village, Oct. 15–16. Ballots will be available at Pumpkin Village where attendees will check off the corresponding number of their favorite scarecrow and place it in the ballot box located at the Pioneer Review booth at Pumpkin Village,” said Green.

To obtain your Colusa County Scarecrow Contest entry form, visit the Williams Pioneer Review office located at 611 Bridge Street in Colusa, or visit their website www.colusacountynews.net.
