Livingston Eugene Spyres (1922-2016)

obit-livingston-spyresLivingston Eugene (Gene) Spyres, 94, of Williams, CA, passed away November 17, 2016.

Gene was born in Springdale, Arkansas, on January 31, 1922, to Oscar & Lola Spyres. His siblings are Richard “Dale Spyres (deceased); Max Spyres (deceased); and survived by Mary “Bernie” Kalfsbeek.

He was wedded to Freda Marie Bennett from Texas on February 2, 1946, in College City, CA.

Gene was a World War II Veteran (1942-1946) where he served in the United States Armed Air Forces in the “8th Air Force.” After the war, he was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Richmond, CA, and later transferred to the Ford Mtr. Milpitas, CA plant and retired in 1977.

He was a dedicated and loving husband/father. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, baseball, and football and was our family’s champion “dominoes” player!

He was preceded in death by his wife Freda (1994) and his son David (2016). He is survived by daughter, Carolyn Estes, Midville, GA; daughter, Jean O’Brien, Williams, CA; son, Steve Spyres, and his wife, Darlene, Yuba City, CA. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at McNary-Moore Funeral Service, Colusa, CA, on Wed. November 23 from 5:00-8:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Livingston’s name may be made to the Williams Fire Department, 810 E. Street, Williams, CA, 95987.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary-Moore Funeral Service (530) 458-2111.
