Mendoza takes seat on council; Sellers selected as new mayor, Bergson as vice mayor
Colusa County Clerk and Recorder Rose Gallo-Vasquez paid a visit to Williams last week to swear in newly elected city councilman Roberto Mendoza, along with John Troughton, who was reelected to the council for a third term.
Mendoza takes the place of former council member and District 3 supervisor-elect Kent Boes.
“I just want to say that I had a wonderful four years with you fellas, and I look forward to continuing to work with you in my new role,” Boes said. “I want to thank John (Troughton) for giving me a lot of support in the last couple of years. I wish you all good luck in everything you do, and if there’s anything we can do for you on our side of the house, we’ll be happy to help.”
Immediately after the two recently elected council members were sworn in, the council selected the mayor and vice mayor for 2017. Alfred Sellers was nominated as mayor by Charles Bergson, which was approved unanimously by the new council. Sellers, in turn, nominated Bergson for the position of mayor pro tempore — which was also approved unanimously. ■
