Mike was born and raised, and in turn, was a lifelong agricultural steward in the Grimes area. He received his B.A. in Agriculture in 1969. He then earned his Lifetime Teaching Credential in Agriculture from UC Davis, and taught High School Agriculture for Oakdale High School for 1 Year. Mike was a devoted learner, and returned to UC Davis to earn a Masters in Agriculture and Environmental Science in order to better understand the workings of AG water use. In 1971, Mike left the Masters program to return to the family farm after his father’s passing. In addition to running the
Miller Ranch, he also lovingly cared for his grandmother, his mother, and youngest brother. Later, he and his brothers formed Miller Brothers Joint Venture in 1996. Furthering Mike’s passion for agriculture and environmental stewardship, Mike Miller was elected trustee for Reclamation District 108 in 2001.
Mike is survived by his brothers, John, Jeffrey, and Jacob Miller, and sister Patricia Hamilton. He is also remembered by his nieces and nephews, who all regard Michael as a father figure and teacher. Mike instilled work ethic, common sense, honesty, and a healthy sense of humor in everyone he encountered.
For those who wish to donate in Michael’s name, you are invited to support the Grimes Grand Island Cemetery at P.O. Box 334, Grimes CA 95950.
