He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; Deborah Vawter Sistrunk of Arbuckle, his mother; Vera Robinson, brothers; Russell (Shot) Sistrunk, James Goodin, all of Colusa, Bill (Mercy) Goodin of Pace, Florida, one sister; LaVonne (Jim) Frazier of Casa Grande, Arizona, and his mother-in-law; Leatrice Vawter, sisters-in-law Michele Hyta, Melanie (Craig) Hirschfield, Connie (Will) Semon and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law; Don Vawter in 1994.
George graduated from Colusa High School in 1964 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965. He served on the USS Coral Sea from 1965-1967 when he was honorably discharged.
While in the Navy he was an aircraft engine mechanic-crash crew (air trans) on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea.
Upon returning to Colusa following his military service George worked for the city of Colusa until in 1970 when he moved to Woodland, CA where for more than 20 years he was employed with Mobile Chemical.
In 1973, he married Deborah Vawter and in 1993 the couple moved to Arbuckle.
In 2000 George opened his own business; Central Valley Foods, a wholesale nut roasting, packaging plant which he owned and operated until 2015 when he retired.
George enjoyed many hobbies. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Arbuckle Golf Club. He also loved commercial salmon fishing and diving for abalone and bottom fishing with his father-in-law and had many fond memories of the times they spent together.
George will be remembered and missed by not only his wife and his family but by the many friends he has made in his lifetime.
