Stephanie Spencer Beckley, 64, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 in Sacramento, California. A long time resident of Woodland, California, she was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Orinda, California. She graduated from Campolindo High School in Moraga, California, before attending the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. While in Stockton, Stephanie had the good fortune to meet Steven Beckley, who would become her beloved husband of over 42 years — most of which she spent keeping him out of trouble and making sure his socks matched.
Steve and Stephanie moved to Des Moines, Iowa following their marriage in 1974, giving Stephanie a strong appreciation for the Midwest, as well as allowing her to pursue her graduate studies in Counseling at Drake University. The couple moved to Woodland, California in 1979, where Stephanie was an active member of the community until her death. Stephanie worked for the Woodland Public Library and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, as well as a past member of organizations including the local chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Yolo Fliers Club. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and will especially be missed by her husband as his enthusiastic accomplice on adventures throughout California and beyond. While Stephanie may have been raised a city girl, she was equally at home in the country.
Stephanie is survived by her husband Steven; son, Sean, and his wife, Nicole; daughter, Stacy; and her numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews.
A service for friends and family will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Grand Island Cemetery in Grimes, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of Stephanie Beckley via check to the Woodland Public Library or the Yolo County SPCA.
