So, for Tom’s birthday we went to Lake Tahoe and we went to see “The Luvin’ Spoonful” in concert. It was a hoot and we loved every minute of it. I noticed a couple o things though.
We were at the South Shore Room at Harrah’s in South Lake Tahoe. I remembered that “back in the day” we used to see some pretty big names in that room. But then, in the 60’s there were tables and you could have dinner at the early show or drinks at the late show. Now of course it is nothing but rows and rows of seats.
I was a little surprised that the rows were all filled. It was a sold out crowd, and there was even a waiting list line for people hoping to get in. As I looked around this room I also noticed a lot of “old people” and ironically they all seemed to know the words to all of the songs. Wait; we too were a part of that old person crowd that knew the words to the songs.
I guess there comes a time when you realize you are the older generation. If not yet entirely, I have to admit we are getting there. Regardless it was fun and we enjoyed it all.
I was so happy to see the rain come this week. It washed away the accumulation of dirt settled at my house. Walnut harvest is done, the rain came and all is well.
I love the fall; especially when it starts to cool down and the trees start to change colors. It is my favorite time of the year. I’m always reminded how lucky we are to live were we live.
We’ve just finished up a great round of fall events at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. The next event will be the Holiday Craft Faire and Gift Show on November 19 and 20.
I’m pleased that Colusa County’s own Santa (Dave Bishop) will return to the Faire this year.
Our Santa is the real deal as far as I’m concerned. He has the genuine heart of the real Santa.
I’ve seen him give when he didn’t have much to give. I’ve seen him share his time and his attention to folks who just needed someone to talk with. That’s what it’s about folks.
We all have something to give; be it time, talent or money. It comes back to us three-fold as they say.
Take a look around. You might be surprised what you see. There is always someone who needs your help. Don’t be afraid to offer it
Life is good today. . .
