Farm Show on schedule for next week

“We’re bigger than ever this year,” said Jonathan Howard, Fairgrounds CEO.

With over 315 vendors, Howard commented that the show has opened an additional 40 extra vendor spaces in the north east corner of the fairgrounds and added a new tented area next to the main exhibit hall.

“The tented area is for the smaller vendors who bring something unique to the show,” said Howard. “It also adds shade and cover from the elements.”

Cover may be needed as weather reports forecast clouded skies and the possible chance of rain during the Farm Show, but that shouldn’t spoil the fun.

Howard commented that he was impressed with the number of technology-type companies at this year’s show.

“We have a lot of technology this year,” he said. “It’s crazy how technology has advanced. They have tractors that are self driven by GPS, advanced laser leveling and drones are being used to inspect and manage farmland.”

In addition to the hundreds of vendors, the show provides an opportunity for agriculturalists to be informed on the topics and technologies in their industry.

“We have some really good speakers in our seminars this year,” said Howard. “We cover topics from safety, technology in agriculture, as well as new laws and regulation. You can even learn how to become better farm managers.”

Doreen “Dee Dee” D’Adamo will provide the keynote address at the 15th annual Colusa Farm Show Rabobank Breakfast.

Several hundred people, including alumni of California State University, Chico College of Agriculture, are expected to attend the early-morning breakfast. The breakfast begins 7 AM on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at St. Bernadette’s Hall, across the street from the Colusa County Fairgrounds.

Gabriele Ludwig, the Almond Board’s director of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs, will give an update on the Almond Board’s programs during the Colusa-Sutter-Yuba Winter Almond Meeting starting at 8:30 AM in the fairgrounds theater.

The 52nd annual Colusa Farm Show is held Tuesday, Feb 7, and Wednesday, Feb 8, from 9 AM to 5 PM, and on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 9 AM to 4 PM.
