Arbuckle man arrested on suspicion of rape

A 49-year-old Arbuckle man was arrested last Saturday on suspicion of committing forcible rape and forcible oral copulation on an adult victim.

The alleged crime occurred on Saturday afternoon, and a woman reported she had been raped by a man she knew later that evening, Colusa County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mark Contreras said.

After conducting an investigation, deputies arrested Michael Scott Jimenez without incident at an apartment on the 900-block of Gail Avenue in Arbuckle.

“The only other thing that I can say is that evidence – including items of clothing – was collected from the scene,” Contreras said.

The woman went to a nearby hospital, where she was examined and a rape kit was prepared.

Jimenez was booked on charges of rape by means of force, violence, duress, menace, or fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the person or another. He was also charged with oral copulation by force or fear.

Jimenez remained in custody at the Colusa County Jail on Tuesday, with his bail set at $150,000. Charges were filed by the Colusa County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, and an arraignment had yet to be set at the time of publication.
