“Over the last week to ten days the county has experienced a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles occurring around the county,” said Lt. Neil Pearson in the press release. “Six thefts have been reported to the Sheriff’s Office so far.”
Pearson added that many of reports have occurred in rural areas outside of Williams, Arbuckle, Grimes and Maxwell.
“The suspect(s) appear to target unlocked vehicles taking miscellaneous paperwork, cash, guns and personal property,” said Pearson. “In one incident suspects entered an unlocked garage where they took property from an unlocked vehicle in the garage. In that case, gas cans and a hunting pack was taken.”
According to Pearson, suspects have also taken DMV registration cards from vehicles as well.
“Please lock your vehicles and residences at night or when you are away from your home,” said Pearson.
