In a safe and sober environment, forty-one individuals bowled for free last Friday.

“This is an activity for the community,” said Kevin Shields, Friday Night Live group advisor. “We intend to supply a safe and sober occasion for families to interact with each other in a fun way.”
This summer marks the group’s seventh year providing the free bowling event, co-sponsored with Riverside Lanes.

“I enjoy being at these events because it’s a fun and free place to be with my friends,” said Abby Stokes, FNL member. “I can hangout and not get into trouble,”

During the four hour event, participants were given the opportunity to bowl an unlimited number of games and with information on how to stay safe this summer.

The educational pamphlets given contained sources and phone numbers in regard to preventing alcohol and substance abuse. The group hopes to attain more participants this year.

Free bowling takes place every other Friday starting June 16, from noon to 4 PM at Riverside Lanes, 420 Main Street, Colusa. The program will run through Aug. 4.

FNL is an organization that focuses on personal development, community service, and also identifies issues throughout the community and attempts to resolve them. The group is typically geared towards teens, adults, and younger children. All are encouraged to attend these free events.
