On Wednesday, Dec. 6, Tom Ellis, of Grimes, was honored by the Colusa County Board of Supervisors for his contributions to keeping the area safe from flooding.
He received a proclamation from the board a community meeting held by the Mid & Upper Sacramento River Flood Management Planning group.
“[The board] recognized Tom Ellis for his selfless contribution, passion, and depth of understanding of our flood control system that helps to keep Colusa County safe during high River flows,” said Denise Carter, District 5 supervisor. “He has shared his knowledge with many State and Federal partners. I thank him for all he has taught me.”
Ellis has been a tireless advocate of flood control and was instrumental in the adoption of the 2012 Central Valley Flood Protection Plan. He served on the Board of Sacramento West Side Levee District since 2001 and was President of the Board for 14 years.
