Colusa Cowboys Mighty Mites Seek Sponsorship

Small but mighty, the five member squad of the Colusa Cowboys Mighty Mites is seeking sponsors for their trip to the 2017 Youth Nationals in Las Vegas.

“We are almost there but still looking for sponsors for insurance and incidentals,” said Lisa Raymond, a first year coach for the Mighty Mites.

The Mighty Mites earned their spot to nationals by finishing second overall in their division with over 12 squads competing.

“My goal throughout this year has been to teach the girls hard work does pay off,” said Raymond.

The five girl squad, ages seven to eight, have three first timers and two returning members.

“I feel good about going to nationals but hope I don’t fall while stunting. Stunting for nationals is hard,” said second year member Chloe Raymond.

This small squad with a lot of heart departs Sacramento on Jan. 18 for the start of their four-day journey.

“These girls have been a little out of their realm but are persevering their athletic abilities. The stunts and cheers are those of a high school level. The support from the community has been great,” said Raymond.

Registration, hotel, and airfare run at $1,000 per cheerleader. If you are interested in donating or sponsoring, please call Lisa Raymond (408) 685-6905 or Kelly Long (530) 632-9019, for more information.■
