Teruye Omaye (1921-2017)

Teruye “Terry” Omaye, born March 6, 1921, to Chiyozo and Tei Kanagaki in Walnut Grove, California, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2017. She was a graduate of Colusa High School.

Terry married Shigeru “Stan” Omaye on December 1, 1944, and they were married for 56 years before his passing. Terry lived in Colusa for over 75 years and loved to garden, bake and was best known for her homemade apple and lemon pies. What brought most pleasure to her was her family, grandchildren and seeing her first great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Suyeo “Choppy” and Masaru Kanagaki; and one sister, Chiyo Ishigaki.

Terry is survived by her son Stanley T. Omaye (Annie) of Reno, NV; and daughters Sue Johnson (Rick) of Colusa, CA, and Kathy Omaye-Sosnow (Michael) of Redwood Shores, CA.

Grandchildren: Stanley Omaye, Jr. (Natalie), Anthony Omaye, Casey Omaye, Melissa Johnson, Belinda Sosnow. One Great-Grandson: Stanley Omaye.

A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 17,  2017 at 11:30 a.m. at McNary-Moore, 107 Fifth Street, Colusa, CA 95932. Burial service to follow at Colusa Cemetery, 1974 Wilson Avenue, Colusa, CA 95932.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
