William Reilly (1921-2017)

“Bill” William Reilly passed away January 14, 2017, at the age of 95, in Williams, Ca. He was born in Concord, Massachusetts to William Patrick and Mary Ella Reilly on November 15, 1921.

His family come to California via a boat (The Manchuria) through the Panama Canal, up to Don Francisco- then settled in Palo Alto.

Bill attended “Poly High”; when he excelled in all types of sports, including Pole Vaulting, his main game of choice was basketball. He turned down a scholarship to play for St. Mary’s and joined the Merchant Marines.

He met and married the love of his life Maxine; they celebrated their 71st anniversary October 14, 2017.

Bill retired from the Colusa Mosquito Treatment District after 27 years. He was the last of the “original” mosquito boys, including Kenny Whitesell, Clyde Bettencourt and Larry Davis. He is survived by his loving wife Maxine; daughter and son-in-law Kathy Ingraham (Tim); great grandson Brett Grass; great granddaughter Bayley Fussaro. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Shelly Fussaro.

A memorial service will be held January 28, 2017 at 11:00AM at The First Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow at 12:00PM at Rocco’s Banquet Hall on Main Street (directly behind Rocco’s).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Colusa RedHawk Athletic Foundation, 901 Colus Ave, Colusa, CA or the First Presbyterian Memorial Fund P.O Box 623, Colusa, CA.
