Robert Cousineau (1934-2017)

Robert “Bob” Cousineau died peacefully at home on the morning of February 12, 2017 in Colusa, CA at the age of 82.

Bob is survived by his wife Joan Cousineau and 4 children Lynn Harvey of Laytonville, MD; Matthew Cousineau of Colusa, Marshall Cousineau (Lara) of Healdsburg, CA, and Jane Cousineau of Colusa. Also his siblings Phyllis Jacobs of Colorado and George Cousineau of Colorado. Bob is also survived by his Grandchildren Monica Sankey (Brett) of Arbuckle, CA and Jacob Cousineau of Los Angeles, CA; Jackie Gillick (Ambrose) of Glasgow, Scotland, Katie Cooper (Matt) of Farmville, NC, Zachariah Cousineau of Arlington, TX, and Gwendolyn Cousineau of Sacramento, CA; Logan Morton of Chico, CA and Amanda Morton Chico, CA; Brandy Lynn Vaughn, Brook Dilworth, and Brad Yates. Bob had 10 great-grandchildren as well. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Claire Kelly of Colorado and Margaret “Peggy” York of Michigan

Bob was born on November 10, 1934 in Michigan to Clarence and Gwendolyn Cousineau. He joined the Marines in April of 1952. He married Joan his wife of 56 years in 1961. In 1973 Bob and Joan moved their family to Colusa, CA where they purchased Cruise ‘n Tarry Marina and RV Park. In 1977 he started the successful business of Cousineau Construction where his son Matt worked by his side until Bob retired in 2006.

Bob was known as quite the jokester and loved his grandkids beyond words. Bob is remembered for his great story telling ability and extremely hard work ethic. While operating Cousineau Construction he became a world traveler. Job sites took him to countries such as Russia, Guam, Midway Island, Ethiopia and Eretria, Madagascar and many other exotic locations. Bob lived a full and happy life and was always thankful for what he had.

Per Bob’s wishes there will be no funeral or graveside services. As a true Marine he wishes to have his remains set to sea on a Navy Vessel out of Naval Base Coronado. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations.
