Trevo Nokes Lecce (1929 – 2017)

Trevo Nokes Lecce passed away peacefully on May 25, 2017 in Williams, California, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Nixa, Missouri to Newton J. Nokes and Ottie E. Stutesman, she was born into a large family of 6 brothers, Raymond, Milford, Manford, Lloyd, Jimmy, Gerald, and two sisters, Merle and Eula.  She spent a great deal of her childhood being raised on the small family farm in Nixa.  At the tender age of 11 she found herself in the unenviable position of having to raise her two smaller brothers after her mother abruptly left the home.  She grew up fast, having to learn to cook, clean, can food, wash clothes and tend to the chickens.  It appeared she had no regrets, however, and is proud of the time she spent on the farm and her contributions to the family.  Her memories of “the home place” stayed with her always.  She spoke lovingingly and longingly of the farm and of her beautiful state of Missouri.

In 1946 her older sister, Merle, convinced her to move to California “to get a life” so at the age of 17 she made the trip.  She met and subsequently married Frank S. Lecce and had two daughters, Diana and Kathy.

She loved her little home in Colusa and took pleasure in her favorite things: cooking, and learning how to cook Italian, baking, gardening and sewing clothes for her two girls.  She had learned at an early age to play the guitar and she so very much loved her music.  She could often be seen in the kitchen, guitar in hand, singing her heart out her beloved country music.  She was a member of the California Old Time Fiddlers for many years until her health failed.

In later years, after the  marriage ended in divorce, she met an angel, John J. Troughton, Sr. and he truly was her angel on earth.  He looked after her and loved her like no other. They were companions and best friends for over 20 years.

She is survived by her daughters Diana Locey (James) of Yuba City, and Kathy Dye (James) of Colusa; her precious grandchildren, Andrea Locey Blankenship (James), great grandchildren Jake and Alex, El Dorado Hills;  grandson Stephen MacPherson (Mandi), and great granddaughter Jenna, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan, and great grandsons Chase & Chad MacPherson, of Spokane, Washington.

Graveside services will be held at the Williams Cemetery at 10 AM on Friday, June 2, 2017.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary-Moore (530) 458-2111
