Marjorie M. Marengo (1925-2017)


Marjorie M. Marengo, 92, of Williams CA, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2017, in Woodland, CA.

Marjorie was the daughter of Lewis. A. and Mary Manor. She was born in a maternity house next door to the family home in Williams, CA on April 8, 1925.

She attended local schools and spent her childhood summers at Coffee Creek in Trinity County.

She graduated from Williams High School in 1943 where she participated in many clubs. She was a member of the school band and became the yearbook editor her senior year.

After graduation, she moved to San Francisco where she attended San Francisco City College and worked in Public Health for the Military for the remainder of World War II.

At the end of the war, she married her high school sweetheart, George Marengo and they settled in Williams where they raised their two sons Jim and Tom and began farming.

She worked as a bookkeeper, taught swimming lessons, and most of all was a homemaker and a mother.

She enjoyed playing bridge with her lifetime friends, vacations with family to Fort Bragg, and at the family cabin in Mineral.

After her husband’s death in 1982, she spent her time traveling. She spent her February’s in Mexico and spent the fall in Russia to the South Pacific, and most places in between.

She is survived by her son Tom Marengo of Williams; a brother Don Manor, of Williams; Grandchildren Megan Marengo, Gina Marengo, Peter R. (Michelle) Marengo, Carena Marengo, and Carli Marengo; Great-grandchildren, Miwako, Kendall, Ayla, and Sophia; as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband George; a son Jim Marengo; her brothers, Elbert Gassaway, L. Glenn Manor, James A. Manor; and a sister, Elaine Finch.

A viewing will be held 5 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, Sept. 13 at McNary Moore Funeral Home, 107 5th Street, Colusa.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Williams Cemetery, 2438 Zumwalt Rd, Williams, CA.
