Sheriff’s Office seeks two suspects in Bear Valley Road armed robbery

No good deed goes unpunished, as a 42-year-old Colusa County resident sadly found out on Sunday night when he pulled over to help two men apparently stranded on Bear Valley Road, near the Wilbur Bridge.

The would-be Good Samaritan instead became the victim of an armed robbery, Colusa County Sheriff Lt. Mark Contreras said. The alleged robbery took place at about 10:45 PM on Jan. 21.

“The suspects’ vehicle appeared to be broken down on Bear Valley road, near the Wilbur Bridge,” Contreras said. “When the victim stopped to see if they needed help, that’s when they were confronted by two suspects, one carrying a shotgun and the other carrying what was possibly a handgun.”

The suspects took money, groceries and the victim’s jacket, and siphoned his gas before heading back towards Highway 20, Contreras said. The victim was not harmed in the armed robbery.

The vehicle was described as a light-brown or tan colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with its rims spray-painted black. The two suspects were described as white males, both about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7. One of the suspects was estimated to be around the age of 40, with a long, bushy, gray goatee. The second suspect was said to be in his 30s, with shoulder length, light-colored hair, and a small tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 458-0200.■
